At the end of 2000, OTE had 300 DSL subscribers through a pilot scheme in the cities of Athens and Salonika, with a target of 5,000 DSL customers by the end of 2001. However, as at 28 February 2002, only 250 pilot users were active. OTE has installed 2,700 lines and plans to install 12,000 lines by June 2002, with service launch planned for the first half of 2002. Business projections are for 10,000 users by yearend 2002, depending on ISPs marketing strategies, since OTE plans to sell the DSL lines wholesale to ISPs. .....

OTE, the Greek incumbent, does not yet offer wholesale or retail ADSL on a commercial basis. However, there are 93 unbundled local loops through which new entrants will be able offer DSL access to their subscribers......
