Problem with CONN-X - CYTA, Forthnet,... maybe better?

Hi,
i have a problem mit CONN-X.

I stay in the Downtown of Athens.
I order ISDN and CONN-X 24.000.

But my speed is only:

Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 3337
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 815

I call OTE, was in the OTESHOP, but no body can help me.

The answer is only, the distance to the Phone Box and/or to the OTE Building in Pattision Street 85 its to far (2km). From this my speed its so slow.

I go extra to OTE and pay more money for a good service, but i dont get a good service because no body want help me.

I cant belive in my street are 2 Internet Caffees, i dont think the internet cafe have only DSL 2 MB.

My question:

If i move to CYTA or Forthnet, this 2 Companys use the same Line from OTE or have a own network, with a own line and own phone box for a higher speed?

I need a fast connection for my work, i dont can work correctly with a so slow connection.

I called OnTelecoms and ask you have a own line or not. OnTelecoms told me: we use the line from ote.

CYTA and Forthnet dont can give me a answer.


PLEASE HELP. where i have to move for a higher dsl speed.
(all my boxes are correct installed, thats a OTE problem not from me.)

Can you please give your rooter statistics such as the attenuation and anything you find there?

There must be a problem with your connection because my distance from the building at Salamis is 3km+ and i download with 6mgbs

where i was living before in Salamina, my speed was like ADSL 13000.

I bee sure in this house in the downtown of athens the speed is more high, but OTE dont connect me higher for save resurces.

All my nighbours habe ADSL 11000-15000 only me 2000-3000.

OTE dont want help, from this i want change.

For me is very importet, i now CYTA have a own network or not.

Before in this house the attenuantion was only 14 but then come ote again connect some think again and after my attenuantion was 39.

Your line probably has problem.
In my opinion you could have at least 9mbps download according to your line details.
I would suggest you to call again OTE and tell them that your speed is not normal according to your attenuation.
Ask someone to come and test/fix your line.

Otherwise choose another provider such as Forthnet and I believe that their customer service will provide you a better solution

For me is very importet, i now CYTA have a own network or not.
No. Everyone is using OTE's cables. If there is a cable fault it will be transfered to your new isp.

Take everything off the line (splitter, netmod or santis, telephones,). Leave only the router and check again the line rate.

OTE say no. 2 MBits, and nothing more - dont help....

2.) I take the Router direct in the phone box without splitter, netmod etc.. The speed is the same, the line attentutian the same too...

Ask your neighbors about their ISP and if they are satisfied and then choose...it's the best you can do.

In my area no nighbours open the door :-D.
But if i see the WLAN Router i see only Thomson and Netfaster

Οκ....search which of these two is better for you and move on!I suppose you need unlimited download and unlimited local and long distance calls right?(I think you need them because because of your work..)Do you need free calls for other countries?

Have you called 121 to submit a technical issue? Did somebody called you later and told you about max speed or you called another number?

In my experience sometimes OTE's ISDN terminal equipment is kinda messed up i suggest if you can't work out a solution with OTE and apparently the cost is greater than the quality you receive you may want to consider moving to another ISP.
If you need an economy package with unlimited calls choose which provider suits you and pick that. For overall quality i can recommend you Forthnet but its up to you.
If you still want to stay at OTE maybe a good idea is to switch in PSTN to see if its better but considering that the problem maybe everywhere between the phone line at the OTE's phone box or the OTE's local center where the line cables end you just take the chance.
