I hope you guys are willing to help me, even if I'm not writing in greek. :)
If this is not the correct subforum, sorry and please can a mod move it to the right one.

A friend who is greek and has a house in Mytilini will be staying there for a few months so they are looking for an internet and phone solution.
I am using an internet only subscription from my ISP, dropped the phoneline with them, transferred my number and found my way to VoIP for about 2 years now.
The SIP device is a fritzbox and I have 2 VoIP accounts: 1 for incoming (where my phonenumber is also) and 1 for outgoing calls which is very cheap.

I would like to help them to setup a similar system (they have no technical knowledge in this field):
- find an ISP with internet only
- find a provider which provides a DID, preferably in that area
- use the number from here on hollidays and when they are here, use the greek number for incoming calls from greece

They currently have a tv subscription from ?Nova?. I checked that site but it seems that they don't have a tv/internet plan.
I also don't know which kind of broadband technology (cable, a/vDSL) is available over there.

So these are my questions:
1) do you guys know which ISP/broadband technology is available in Mytilini?
2) can you point me to a good/not to expensive DID provider?

Thanks A LOT in advance for your help and if it's easier, you can write back in greek and I use a translator.

1) κάνετε εσείς ξέρετε ποια ISP / ευρυζωνική τεχνολογία είναι διαθέσιμη στην Μυτιλήνη;
2) μπορείτε να το σημείο μου σε μια καλή / να μην ακριβά DID πάροχος;

Right now aDSL is practically the only option, except in some areas where, if you are lucky, you might be able to get vDSL. It's worth checking it out as the price difference is not that big, if they need the speeds.

There aren't any available internet-only plans, but the basic telephony + aDSL plans are pretty cheap.
Nova offers some combination plans with Forthnet, if they intend to keep the TV they can get a pretty good deal: http://www.forthnetgroup.gr/Services3PlayForm.aspx?a_id=6208

You can get a VOIP number from viva (http://www.viva.gr/numbers) or omnivoice (https://www.omnivoice.eu/index.cfm/doc/105/cat/5), for 1 or 0.5 euro/month respectively - there might be other options I'm not aware of, I'm sure others will let you know. FYI, greek landlines are 10 digit numbers starting with 2.

Sorry for the links in Greek but these companies don't seem to bother much with translations :)

Hi mezger,

Thank you for reading/replying and of course, you cannot do anything about the greek-only sites!
The speed is not that important since they are not heavy users, just some basic browsing and probably a VoIP solution.

I will check the links you provided with them.
Any additional information is very much appreciated!

There is an ADSL option for holiday house that is very cheap but it supports only 2Mbps speed
OTE Conn-x 2 for Holiday House, 8.53€/month
https://www.ote.gr/en/web/guest/service-listing?productId=connx_2_holiday_house_pstn&categoryId=201902&lastLayoutId=426

If he has tv subscription at Nova, he should look for a 3play package at forthnet.gr
forthnet bought Nova 5 years ago.

www.forthnet.gr (http://www.forthnet.gr)
It offers 3play packages with phone no, adsl and NOVA tv subscription .
Prices start from 29.90€/month for the basic package and goes up to 79.99€/month for the full pagkage.

The basic package does not include many sports and movies channels
full package channels list http://www.forthnetgroup.gr/Channels.aspx?a_id=5555
There are also other packages that includes some channels of the full package, like the sports package, the movies package, etc.

OTE and HOL also offers subscription tv services.
http://otetv.ote.gr/portal/page/portal/OTETV/Channels/Channels?type=sat
http://www.holmytv.gr/GR/holmytv/livetv/Pages/channels.aspx

Some packages are available as satellite subscription and as internet broadcast.
I suggest to choose the satellite subscription because internet broadcast will use his internet bandwidth.
If he chose a satellite subscription he will be able to use the subscription card and the receiver anywere in Greece. Technically, he could use the subscription card and receiver anywere in Europe as long as he has large enough satellite dish to receive the satelite signal (however it is forbitten to use the subscription outside Greece).

If the above webpages look Greek to you, try http://translate.google.com/ . Enter the url on the textbox and click translate.
