Be a part of Firefox users' ad in The New York Times!
Posted by Rob_Davis on Thu, 10/21/2004 - 12:23 :: Spreading Firefox

SFX TeamWill you be a part of the open source legacy?

NY Times Ad Campaign Overnight, the Firefox NY Times campaign has spread around the world! Also, c|net. In fact, Firefox users have been regularly submitting names at a rate of better than one per minute!

Firefox 1.0 is coming soon, let's keep building momentum and fill the ad -- the first-ever, full-page advertisement in a major daily newspaper created and paid for by the open source community.

Blake & Co. have contributed 100 signed T-shirts to our effort and I'd like to give them to all Community Champions (a Champion is anyone who signs up for ten name slots and in return gets additional perks).

Also, (kudos to the Clark family for the suggestion) we have a new category - the family rate. Are your mom, dad, kids or relatives using Firefox? Perfect. For $45 include "The ____ Family" in the ad. Read the FAQ for details.

This campaign needs your help to keep growing - you know other Firefox users, get 'em on board! This is internet history in the making, and you'll end up with one of the best souvineers.

Here is how it works:

* The full-page ad will include the names of everyone who supports the campaign along with a message about the benefits/features of Firefox.
* The ad will only include verifiable, personal names: no URLs, emails, etc.
* An individual contribution of $30 will get your name included in the ad ($10 student rate).
* The campaign will act as a fundraiser to support all Firefox 1.0 launch activities, not just the ad itself (find out more about your contribution).
* Special recognition — Community Champion — will be given to people who sign up 10 names at a time.
* There are also two packages available for businesses to participate.
* You will be notified via email when the ad runs.
* More questions? Check the FAQ.
* Ready? Click the newspaper on the upper right to join in!
* SFX members: in order to get roll call credit for your donation, you need to be logged in before clicking the link. (100 sfx points per name slot)

Ads for the campaign have been spotted on SourceForge and Slashdot! Thank you to the employees of SourceForge.net, where more Open Source developers collaborate on more projects than anywhere in the world.

NYT Campaign Closes -- WOW! Thank you!
Posted by Rob_Davis on Sat, 10/30/2004 - 00:40 :: Spreading Firefox
10 days, 10,000 names, $250,000

Wow.
Ten short days ago a single call went out inviting you to proudly proclaim your support for a better browser.

You answered with a storm of support. Congratulations Firefox users!

The NYT campaign has now closed. But the Firefox 1.0 launch is just around the corner - Firefox needs your ongoing support to spread the word.

This campaign drew on worldwide support from over 80 countries including Jordan, Gibraltar and Estonia.

More stats and complete country list coming shortly...

As I mentioned in the first post, this campaign has been a fundraiser for the Mozilla Foundation. Check the FAQ for more about how money is used.

(Thanks for a strange and wonderful 30th birthday - today)
Rob

από το mozilla.
και δεν το έχω καταλάβει;;
