    McLaren introduced a significant upgrade at the Spanish Grand Prix which earned glowing praise from driver Fernando Alonso. The team hopes the new package can help move it into the position of best of the rest behind the front three.

    Boullier insists he has not been issued an ultimatum or set any clear targets because everyone knows what McLaren should be striving for.

    "No orders are needed. We know what we need to do. We had to improve the reliability, we had to improve the performance. We have now some other teams using the same power units, so at least we have some references. This is what we are working on. It's a long way to go.

    "Spain was another step, but any future races, we keep bringing development. Modern Formula One is not about bringing a magic package. It's bringing step by step and incrementally a lot of performance through the season.

    "Everybody is doing the same. We have to work harder than the others to get where you want to be."

    Στην κοσμαρα του,εκανε μια καλη χρονια με τη Lotus και την ειδε παραγοντας της F1,καλα εκανε ο kimi και τον εγραφε με αποτελεσμα να γουρλωνει τα ματια σαν κλασσικη γαλλικη φουσκα που ειναι.

    Με τον boullier δεν ειχε θεμα ο κιμι... ο κιμι τα πηγαινε καλα και με τον boullier και με τον allison (ο ενας πηγε μακλαρεν, ο αλλος ferrari)... με τον alan permane ηταν που του χε πει "don't shout there fucker" (οταν του φωναζε να αφησει τον γκροσζαν)

    Το θεμα της μακλαρεν ειναι οτι και να διωξει τον boullier δε θα αλλαξει κατι γιατι αφενος δεν υπαρχουν πολλοι τοπ team principals που να εχουν καλο ιστορικο και αφετερου δεν σχεδιαζει αυτος το μονοθεσιο. Εκει ειναι που θες προσωπικο και εκει ειναι που ριχνεις το sacking αμα δε παει καλα η αποδοση... αλλαζεις υπευθυνο αναπτυξης σασι / αεροδυναμικων.

    Καλα ναι και με τον γουιτμαρς δεν ειδαμε χαιρι οποτε η θεση του boullier ειναι ασφαλης ελλειψη καποιου αλλου τοπ στη θεση αυτη,πως και δεν εχουν κραξει τον προδρομου,αυτος δεν συμμετεχει στη σχεδιαση του σασι,γιατι οταν γυρισε πισω στο woking,τον ειχαν παρουσιασει σαν μεγαλη αρπαγη απο το τιμ της RBR.



    Tα προβλήματα αξιοπιστίας καθυστερούν την αναβάθμιση στους κινητήρες της Renault

    H Renault προσπαθεί ακόμα να επιβεβαιώσει την αξιοπιστία της νέας MGU-K και δεν έχει τεθεί η ημερομηνία που θα φέρει την αναβάθμιση στο σημαντικό αυτό κομμάτι του συστήματος ανάκτησης ενέργειας.

    Ο γαλλικός κατασκευαστής κινητήρων χρησιμοποιεί μια MGU-K σε συνεργασία με την ιταλική εταιρία Magnetti Marelli, με ένα σχεδιασμό κατά-παραγγελία της Renault Sport να ήταν προγραμματισμένο να κάνει την εμφάνισή της στο ξεκίνημα της προηγούμενης σεζόν.

    Αναβλήθηκε όμως λόγο προβλημάτων αξιοπιστίας και η Renault δεν έχει ακόμα καταφέρει να φτάσει την απαιτούμενη απόσταση στο δυναμόμετρο, ανάμεσα στις 8.000 χλμ με 10.000 χλμ, για να είναι ικανοποιημένη με το νέο στοιχείο ότι θα μπορεί να αντέξει όλη τη χρονιά.

    As Red Bull ponders whether to stick with Renault or throw in its lot with Honda, the Japanese manufacturer admits to its own doubts.

    Both Renault and Honda have made it clear that they need to know Red Bull's plans for 2019 as soon as possible, and while the official deadline by which time engine suppliers must notify the FIA of their plans for next season has passed, it would appear that the Austrian team is no closer to making its mind up.

    Despite the various issues with Renault, not least the fact the French manufacturer has now returned to the sport as a constructor, Honda's partnership with Toro Rosso hasn't exactly set the world alight either... and as recently as China, a Renault-powered Red Bull was winning.

    As eager as anyone to hear Red Bull's decision, Honda motorsport boss Masashi Yamamoto admits he too has reservations.

    "We regard it as a positive thing, giving us time means we have time to consult more," he said, according to Motorsport.com. "We are very positive. To deal with Red Bull is a really big thing for Honda, because they are a top team.

    "This gives us a sort of pressure as an engine manufacturer," he adds. "We have to consider many aspects very well, can we really deal with Red Bull's size? We have to feel the responsibility to supply the engine."

    It's understood that Honda, which held further talks with Helmut Marko in Spain, is looking to promote one of its two proteges, Tadasuke Makino and Nirei Fukuzumi, who are currently in F2, to F1 providing they accrue the necessary superlicence points.

    With Red Bull clearly unwilling to accept such a move, it is likely that Toro Rosso would be required to provide a berth for one of the youngsters, a prospect that makes sense should Daniel Ricciardo opt not to remain at the Milton Keynes squad and Pierre Gasly replaces him.

    Technical boss, Toyoharu Tanabe, who would likely be head of the entire Honda F1 operation, admits partnering with a proven winner again would be relief after the break-up of the partnership with McLaren.

    "It was difficult with McLaren," he admits, "but it was also a very good experience. They gave us very precious experience as a partner.

    "We are now having another experience with Toro Rosso, which is very good. If we are going to be with Red Bull, we don't think we'll be together like McLaren. I don't think we'll have the same situation as we had like McLaren."

    May 18 - Toro Rosso remains happy with its new relationship with Honda.

    James Key, the junior Red Bull team's technical boss, said that unlike McLaren in the past three years, Toro Rosso is enjoying working with the Japanese manufacturer.

    "The honeymoon is long over," he told Speed Week. "The relationship has already become much deeper. The cooperation is exemplary."

    Key said being a works team is a novelty that Toro Rosso is not used to, but is enjoying.

    "It's a challenge that we gladly accepted," he said. "We have never had the opportunity to work so closely with an engine manufacturer. We have more responsibility as a factory racing team.

    "It's a completely different situation to being purely a customer," said Key.

    "Life at the track is easier as I find that Honda responds to each of our wishes."

    The latest reports reveal that Toro Rosso's owner Red Bull is now in talks with Honda about a supply of Japanese engines for the main F1 team.

    But Key said Toro Rosso can win with Honda.

    "Where are the rules that say the other teams can't win?" he smiled.

    "I think it's feasible that we can catch up with the best teams. And with a bit of luck, a podium finish is definitely possible.

    "In the longer term, we want to get in a position to win races with Honda," Key said.

    McLaren Group, the holding company for McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive after the company’s restructure in the wake of the departure of former dual shareholder Ron Dennis, has received a capital injection of £203.8m, made by Nidala (BVI) Limited to purchase 888,135 ordinary shares in the Group.

    A McLaren spokesperson would not disclose the shareholders of the British Virgin Isles-based entity, saying, “We aren’t at liberty to disclose details of the investor. This is, as you will know, not uncommon practice.”
    However, RaceFans understands that Michael Latifi, CEO of major Canadian food conglomerate Sofina and father of F2 racer and current Force India driver Nicholas Latifi, has interests in Nidala.

    Nidala is thought to stand for Nicholas Daniel Latifi. The McLaren spokesperson also did not comment on whether a drive for the 22-year-old is a condition of the investment.

    During a briefing in Barcelona, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown told journalists that McLaren was financially secure, saying “Our shareholders have been in the sport a long time. They completely understand the sport.

    “If you look at the sponsorship that’s come in to Formula 1 teams this year we’ve brought in more new partners than anyone else. They’re patient, understanding, know the sport. We all want to bring in as many sponsor partners as possible, but they also know it’s not that easy.
    “They give us what we need to go racing. They continue to invest in the racing team. So the more we bring in the more we can get. But we’re not strapped for money.”

    Although McLaren currently lacks a headline partner and the flanks of its cars are bare, the team sports an allegiance with Kimoa, the clothing brand created by driver Fernando Alonso.

    Εδω μιλάμε πως πέσαν 200 μιλια για οδηγό. Δεν έχει ξαναγίνει στη McLaren κάτι τέτοιο.

    Κάτι άσχετο παιδιά, αλλά ήθελα να το μοιραστώ.

    Είδα προχθές στο Netflix ένα ντοκιμαντέρ (παραγωγής 2010) για τον Σένα, στο οποίο ουσιαστικά αναφέρεται από την πρώτη του σεζόν στην F1 μέχρι την αποφραδα ημέρα της Πρωτομαγιάς του '94.

    Αδικία μεγάλη! Αδικία! Το βλέμμα του στο μονοθέσιο, πριν την εκκίνηση, σε τρυπάει στην καρδιά!
