Opera provides its browser to Thomson for integration in its next generation of STBs and service platform
Oslo, Norway — September 15, 2009

Opera Software today announced that it provides web technology to Thomson, a worldwide leader of services to content creators. The Opera Devices SDK 9.7 to ring Web technology will be integrated in Thomson’s line of set-top boxes (STBs), in the STB middleware software “THOMSuite” and the “Thomson Service Platform software SmartVision”.

Opera will serve as one rendering component for next generation of Thomson platforms, which allows for new Web-based services to be developed for multiple devices. Opera will be pre-integrated on Thomson STBs for the IPTV market as well as the company’s hybrid deployments, and it will be used as one of the rendering engines on Thomson’s middleware. Opera’s cross-platform technology can be easily ported to a wide array of Thomson products, reducing overall cost and time-to-market for the company.

Κάτι πρέπει να κάνουν πάντως για να προωθήσουν και τον desktop browser. Ειδικά όταν χρησιμοποιείται τόσο πολύ σε άλλες συσκευές είναι μεγάλη ευκαιρία.
