Modfs_ DD-WRT Porting on DGN3500/2200

Μετα απο ψαξιμο του ΓΙΑΤΙ (?) το DGN3500 δεν μπορει να κανει port redirect απο WAN σε LAN, επεσε στο παρακατω Project του Sourceforge.net

Απ'οτι ειδα ( ακομα δεν εχω παει σπιτι να το δοκιμασω) δινει ενα αρκετα καλο σετ
με εργαλεια, τα οποια τρεχουν απο ενα USB stick καρφωμενο πανω στη συσκευη.

Πιστευω πως ειναι ενα καλο utility που κανει τα router μας αρκετα παραπανω λειτουργικα

Και το readme:

Modfs is a firmware mod that resides on a USB drive connected to your router.
USB drive wich contains Modfs image must be always connected to your router to enable Modfs features. If you start your router without Modfs USB drive, your router works as usual.

At the date, supported routers are:
- Netgear DGN3500
- Netgear DGN2200

Common features are:
- PHP based web administration GUI at http://router_ip:8081/
- https for administration GUI
- telnet server
- ssh server
- MiniDLNA UPnP DLNA Server
- printer server for one USB printer
- Wake on Lan, direct or scheduled
- Wi-Fi scheduling
- Lan, Wan, Wlan bandwidth monitoring
- Service Manager to start and stop Modfs services
- Package Manager to install, remove or backup Modfs packages

DGN3500 exclusive features:
- Port forwarding, redirect a wan port to a different Lan IP port
- Monitor Wi-Fi signal strenght
- Wi-Fi power control (works only with "Enable bridging and wireless repeating" enabled)

DGN2200 exclusive features:
- ADSL protcol, bitswap, SRA and Target SNR settings *
- Retrain scrtipt: it tries to keep your link stable on noisy lines *
- 32 MB swap file
- PPPoE Relay to use your router as a modem *
- Fast enable/disable Wi-Fi button
- Additional LAN IP address for router (must be used to forward Modfs services to the Internet through the official firmware port forwarding)

For DGN2200: features checked with a "*" work without Modfs on a USB drive, but settings change are available only through Modfs. To disable those features, flash official firmware or reset to factory defaults.
For DGN2200: enable/disable Wi-Fi button and Wi-Fi scheduling are not compatible with hardware button on the router.

Modfs could be ported to any router that supports USB storage. Feel free to contact us if you wish to port it to your router.
Modfs packages could be developed in a very easy way. You must be experienced in Linux shell and PHP programming, contact us if you wish to develop a new package.

Όντως είναι αρκετά ενδιαφέρον.... το δοκίμασα και φαίνεται πολύ καλό αν σκεφτει κανεις οτι είναι ένα project λίγων μολις ημερων (beta εννοείτε)

Ναι, αν εξαιρεσεις οτι τα conf files ειναι λιγο οπως να'ναι μεσα, αλλα ειναι αρκετα αξιολογο και εχει δυνατοτητες

Αν καταφερουν να του περασουν και Optware θα δεσει τελεια με το NASακι μου

Υποψιαζομαι οτι αν του πεταξουμε μεσα καποια bins που ειναι build για τον kernel του θα τρεξουν... πχ transmission!

Καταφερε να μπει κανεις με SSH ?

About ssh, if you have DGN3500, first enter in telnet, then give passwd to set password. Once you set or set again the password you can access from ssh.

Oποτε δεν χρειαζεται να εχουμε ενεργοποιησει το telnet μεσω http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

Το USB πως θα πρέπει να είναι διαμορφωμένο;
Κατέβασα το πακέτο αλλά ReadMe δεν υπάρχει πουθενά...

This file covers installation of Modfs on DGN2200.

To launch Modfs, you must flash a new firmware on your DGN2200.

NA_A version was not yet tested on a true NA_A DGN2200, but works on a WW_A DGN2200.
So please give us some feedback.

Both versions are based on the 1.0.0.20 Netgear firmware. Reset to factory default settings if you upgrade from another firmware release.
There's no Annex B firmware available. If you want to build your own, contact me at cionci77.modfs@gmail.com to get a simplified firmware build environment.

- flash firmware from official web interface
- extract Modfs image archive to a FAT32 partition on a USB mass storage device (e.g. a USB jump drive). Modfs needs at least 256 MB of free space.
- restart your router with Modfs drive connected to router USB port

Now you should be able to connect to Modfs administration GUI at http://192.168.0.1:8081/ (replace with your router IP address if needed).

Flash official firmware and reset to factory default settings to uninstall Modfs.

Στο DGN3500 με το 1.0.0.28 ΔΕΝ βλέπω το interface του Modfs (έχω IP 192.168.1.1) στο 192.168.1.1:8081

Στην 1.00.25 εβαλα απλα στο Flashακι τα 2 αρχεια:
modfs_DGN3500_startkit_0.1.zip
modfs_image-0.2_beta.zip

Το ενα εχει μεσα το mod_image.bin και το αλλο ext3.ko jbd.ko losetup mod_image.bin modfs_boot.cgi

Υ.Γ Σε 2 GB USB stick

Επιβεβαιώνω ότι λειτουργεί και στο 1.0.0.28 firmware του DGN3500.
Αποσυμπίεσα τα αρχεία που λέει ο RaNd μέσα σε ένα 256MB USB flash disk, έβαλα το USB disk στο DGN3500, έκανα reboot και αφού επανήλθε έδωσα την ακόλουθη URL για να ξεκινήσει το Modfs:

http://routerIP/share/U/modfs_boot.cgi

όπου U είναι το γράμμα που έχει δώσει ο mounter του DGN3500 στο USB disk.

εντυπώσεις ?

Αν και ειναι σε πολυ αρχικο σταδιο παρεχει ηδη 2-3 πραγματα που ελειπαν, οπως root access, ρυθμιση εντασης Db για το Wi-Fi καθως και NAPT forwarding.
Aν καταφερουν να το συνδυασουν με καποιο dd-wrt, tomato ή και ακομα optware θα δωσει εντελως αλλο "αερα" στο router, δεδομενου οτι ειναι ηδη ενα πολυ καλο και σταθερο μηχανημα

Και κατι ακομα απο τους devs:

On DGN2200,(SSH) username and password are the same of Netgear web GUI. We have no plan to support optware, at least in the near or mid term. There's an optware repository for Atheros AR7xxx SoC, binary compatible with DGN3500 MIPS 34Kc big endian MIPS32r2 ISA, but there's no optware repository for DGN2200 MIPS 4Ks based on the first release of big endian MIPS32 ISA.
