Θέλουμε καλή και έξυπνη εξωτερική πολιτική αλλά ταυτόχρονα θέλουμε και ανθρωπιά.Δυστυχώς δεν γίνονται και τα δύο, ειδικά για εμάς και την περιοχή που βρισκόμαστε.Και εγώ στεναχωριέμαι και καταδικάζω αυτο που κάνει το Ισραήλ στην Γάζα, αλλά αυτοί που είναι στις θέσεις αποφάσεων δεν έχουν αυτήν την πολυτέλεια.Και το Ισραήλ, αυτήν την περίοδο θα είναι ενας αρκετά σημαντικός διπλωματικός σύμμαχος.

Πάντως η Ελλάδα ήταν ανάμεσα στις 128 που δεν υποστήριξαν την μεταφορά της πρεσβείας κατά την ψήφιση στον ΟΗΕ ενώ το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών εξέφρασε αποτροπιασμό για τους θανάτους των τελευταίων ημερών στην Γάζα. Παρά την "συμμαχία", που είναι άλλωστε ετεροβαρής με το να ωφελεί περισσότερο την μεριά του Ισραήλ, φάνηκαν και αυτοί προοδευτικούληδες αριστεροί και ας είναι ο ΣΥΡΙΖΑ αυτός που προωθεί τις διμερείς σχέσεις.

Controversial Jewish nation-state bill passes into law

The controversial Jewish nation-state bill became Israel's 14th Basic Law early Thursday morning after it passed into law in the Knesset plenum by a vote of 62 in favor, 55 against and two abstentions.

The law passed after a stormy debate full of theatrics that stretched more than eight hours.


Applauding the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the law as "a defining moment in the history of Zionism and the history of the State of Israel.

"122 years after Herzl published his vision, we have stated by law the basic principle of our existence," Netanyahu said from the Knesset podium.

The head of the special committee that legislated the bill, MK Amir Ohana (Likud), told the plenum it could be the most important legislation in the history of the state. He said the bill had been discussed more than any of the basic laws that have been passed before.

The law's sponsor, Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Avi Dichter, turned to Arab MKs in the final address before voting and told them: "We were here before you, and we will be here after you." But he said their rights as minorities would not be harmed by the law.

Joint List MKs condemned the legislation. Party leader Ayman Odeh waved a black flag on the Knesset podium and his faction colleague, MK Jamal Zahalka, ripped up the bill.



"We are now seeing with shock the death of our democracy, which has been dying in recent years, and suffering from the racism that has hit a new peak with this bill," Joint List MK Ahmed Tibi said earlier in a meeting of Ohana's committee that legislated the bill and approved it by an 8 to 7 vote Wednesday morning along coalition and opposition lines.

The Jewish nation-state bill is a Basic Law with constitutional heft that declares Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people. It anchors in law the state’s menorah emblem, Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, national holidays and the right of all Israeli residents to preserve their heritage without consideration of religion and nationality.

The two most controversial clauses in the bill were changed.

The Diaspora clause says, “The state will act in the Diaspora to maintain the connection between the state and the Jewish people.” The original version said that the connection would be maintained among “the Jewish people, wherever they are.”

A clause that could have permitted one religious group to bar another from living in their community was replaced with one saying that, “The state sees developing Jewish settlement as a national interest and will take steps to encourage, advance, and implement this interest.”

Τι πράμα να αναφέρουμε; Πριν το εμπάργκο η Ευρώπη εισήγαγε μετάλλευμα αξίας €200 εκ. και τώρα (μετά τον τριπλασιασμό εε; ) η Ελλάδα εισάγει μετά βίας μετάλλευμα αξίας 1 εκ./ μήνα ; Ω, μέγα κέρδος που έχουμε σαν χώρα... τα ψιλά για τον καφέ του δώσαμε. Αστεία πράγματα...

Ψιλά γράμματα αλλά για έναν τομέα που κυριολεκτικά βρίσκεται στο καναβάτσο (και έχει πολύ αμαρτωλό παρελθόν λόγω Λαυρεντιάδη) ένα μύριο το μήνα και η δυνατότητα να αποκτά σημαντικό συγκριτικό πλεονέκτημα σε εξαγωγές στην ΕΕ σε περίοδο όπου νομθετικά τα φωσφορούχα λιπάσματα θα δεχτούν περιορισμούς λόγω καδμίου, δεν είναι λίγο. Ο ελληνικός τομέας αποκτά έτσι σημαντικότερο πλεονέκτημα στο μέλλον, με ρίσκο αν και εφόσον ισχύει αυτό που λέει το Politico για κίνδυνο κυρώσεων και σε εποχές όπου βλέπουμε την κυβέρνηση ΗΠΑ να στρέφεται περισσότερο προς μερκαντιλισμό

Αντέχεις όταν έχεις στο τσεπακι σου την νούμερο ένα ηγεμονική δύναμη στον κόσμο. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο όχι απλά δημιουργείς εντάσεις με τους γείτονες αλλά προσπαθείς ενεργά να βαλκανοποιησεις την γειτονιά σου καταστρέφοντας τις χώρες αυτές για να νιώθεις ο ίδιος πιο ασφαλής μη διστάζοντας μάλιστα να κάνεις συμμαχια, ανεπίσημη και μη ανακοινωσιμη μέχρι πρόσφατα, με ένα από τα πιο καταπιεστικά καθεστώτα στον κόσμο που βρίσκεται στην περιοχή, με το δικό σου να μην πάει πίσω, και να χρησιμοποιείς φανατικούς ισλαμιστές για να φέρουν σε πέρας το σχέδιο "καλής γειτνίασης" που αναφέρθηκε παραπάνω τους οποίους και προστατεύεις.

Οπότε το ερώτημα δεν είναι πως καταφερνει να επιβιώνει το Ισραήλ αλλά μάλλον πως καταφέρνουν να επιβιωσουν οι άσπονδοι φίλοι.

US Withdrawal From Syria Paves Way for Israeli Strikes

The US suddenly and unexpectedly announced the withdrawal of US troops from Syria after years of illegally occupying the country. The US presence aimed at ousting the Syrian government, boosting militant groups the US and its partners have armed and backed since the 2011 conflict started, and denying Damascus access to its own resources, particularly oil concentrated east of the Euphrates River.

The US occupation of Syria is only one part of a much larger, decades-long campaign of achieving, maintaining, and expanding US hegemony across North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia – as well as the ultimate goal of encircling and containing both Russia and China.

A genuine withdrawal from the Syrian conflict would signal a seismic shift in US foreign policy and mark an irreversible decline in American hegemony.

It is difficult to believe such a seismic shift could happen, and so suddenly.

It is also a shift not founded in US foreign policy or fact.

There are several key possibilities to consider:

A US withdrawal paves way for unilateral Israeli strikes;
It also paves the way for an expanded Turkish incursion;
US troops won’t be on the ground as targets in the immediate aftermath of any wider conflict Israel or Turkey provokes;
US troops can re-enter theater with renewed pretext to fight Damascus directly in defense of allies Israel or Turkey and;
US troops can re-enter theater along the better formed and protected front Turkey seeks to create.

The above possibilities are drawn not from speculation, but from multiple US policy papers spanning decades.

Το άρθρο μετά συνεχίζει παραθέτοντας αναλυτικά τους λόγους και καταλήγει:

US involvement in Syria was always aimed at eventually undermining, encircling, containing, and eventually overthrowing first Iran, then closing around Russia further.

Unless we are to believe the US has abandoned its wider hegemonic ambitions - and there is no evidence to suggest that it has - it is irrational and ill-advised to believe the US is truly walking away from Syria without plans to dangerously escalate the conflict while minimizing its own culpability.

The United States has gone from an uncontested global superpower at the end of the Cold War, to an increasing dangerous, desperate fading hegemon today. The weaker it appears, the more unpredictable and dangerous its actions are becoming. A genuine withdrawal from Syria would neither fit America's current global ambitions, nor fit its recent pattern of increasingly dangerous and desperate policies implemented from Eastern Europe to the Middle East and North Africa, into Central Asia, and across East Asia.

A skeptical public leaves no room for the US to capitalize on the apparent "good will" the US is trying to cultivate through its supposed withdrawal from Syria ahead of provocations by proxy it will have fully underwritten and will immediately move to exploit toward greater war.

US erodes Russia-Turkey axis in Syria

Through the past month since US President Donald Trump tweeted his fateful decision to withdraw troops from Syria, a familiar pattern began appearing – no sooner than Trump makes a foreign-policy decision, those around him scramble to try to delay that decision.

However, in the Syrian case, signs are that the delay suits Trump. The visit by US Senator Lindsey Graham to Ankara on Friday and his meeting with President Recep Erdogan most certainly had Trump’s blessing. Graham had a lengthy discussion with Trump recently to persuade the latter to take a hard look at the Syrian withdrawal decision.

Graham used to be the best buddy of late Sen. John McCain (an inveterate Russophobe) and a maverick who broke party stereotypes and was among the loudest Republican critics of the president, but today he’s perceived as a leading Trump ally.

Most certainly, Graham undertook the mission to Ankara on behalf of Trump. The Turks understood this and he was well received by President Recep Erdogan. He also had meetings with Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Defence Minister Hulusi Akar and intelligence chief Hakan Fidan. Only last week, Turks had cold-shouldered US National Security Advisor John Bolton. (Erdogan refused to receive Bolton.)

Again, on other parallel tracks, diplomats and military officials are engaging in intensive discussions. Notably, Turkish Chief of Staff General Yaşar Güler met chairman, US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford in Brussels on January 16. A US-Turkey Working Group meeting at deputy foreign minister level is planned for February 5 in Washington, which will be followed by a ministerial conference on the ISIS on February 6, which Cavusoglu is attending.

The situation relating to northern Syria is in focus. Ankara wants the US to vacate its occupation gradually and methodically after handing over its bases to Turkish military and removing the weaponry brought into Syria to equip Kurdish fighters. But a new template has appeared with the recent expression of support by Trump to Erdogan’s 2013 proposal to create a “safe zone” in northern Syria along the Turkish border, which will be 32 kilometre wide to begin with. The US and Turkish generals exchanged views in this regard at their meeting in Brussels.

Turkey wants to be in control of the “safe zone” (which will be larger in territory than Lebanon) with the US enforcing a “no-fly zone” over it. The former CIA chief and defence secretary Leon Pantetta has floated an idea that the two countries should also establish a base of action in the “safe zone” in order to ensure that “Syria goes in the right direction.”
