Cosmote FTTH and switch

I hope you're doing well. First of all, my apologies for not writing in Greek – I recently moved here and am still working on learning the language. I'm sure my question may have already been addressed in Greek forums, but unfortunately, I'm not able to search for it at the moment.

I have a router with an SFP+ port, and I'm looking to connect my fiber line to it. I suspect there might be some vendor lock-in with Cosmote and AVM. Could someone guide me on how to set this up? The SFP GPON module that came with my router (FritzBox!5530) has a Linux SoC installed, and it registers the router's serial number upon startup. Is there a way to replicate this process? Additionally, I'm curious about the VLAN in use for PPPoE – I found conflicting information on different forums, with one mentioning VLAN 835 and another suggesting VLAN 10. If anyone has experience with replacing the router provided by Cosmote, I would appreciate your insights.

Aditionally, would this module be suitable? it has the correct wavelength and frequency as shown in cosmote's technician's installation document but i am not keen to buy it as it is very expensive for an sfp module (most are ~30Eur). Is there a cheaper alternative or is this my only solution?

Not a vendor-lock but they do register serials/barcodes of the ont/fritzbox to authenticate the connection
I have read that other users have successfully spoof the isp supplied ont with a leox ont/sfp
so it should be doable.
I don't know the details, I'm still on 100/10 + a fritzbox, so I still use the isp supplied ont.

Hello Nick,

The FS GPON ONU Stick with MAC SFP (#133619) will work. It has been tested to work with Cosmote's GPON/FTTH network. It will also probably work right away with your router. Can you share us your router vendor/model?

It's a bit expensive because it's a smart-sfp. It has it's own SoC build in. You must be able to login in to your router and then ssh to the stick's SoC in order to configure it.

The BiDi module no, it will not work, it's not a GPON module.

In any case, the PPPoE internet VLAN for all Greek ISP is 835 for FTTH and/or xDSL deployments.

Its a fritzbox 5530 (yeah, the model that runs hotter than the sun under no load)

I was reffering to your other router (owned & configured by you) that you are planning to install the FS's SFP module.

Keep in mind that AVM's 55xx fiber routers DO NOT accept other SFP modules other than their own. The FS's SFP module on a stick will NOT work with 5530.
